The Norwegian Health Association has awarded the prestigious 2022 Heart Research Award (Hjerteforskningsprisen) to professor Eva Gerdts.

Gerdts chairs the Center for research on cardiac disease in women at the University of Bergen, where she is a professor in cardiology at the Department of Clinical Science. She was the first woman to be appointed full professor in cardiology in Norway, in 2006. Gerdts is also a senior consultant in cardiology at Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen.

Professor Gerdts received the prize based on her research on heart disease in women, with a special focus on hypertensive heart disease. The Heart Research Award was presented to her by His Majesty King Harald at a ceremony at The Norwegian Theatre in Oslo on Thursday April 28, 2022.

Eva Gerdts has been a part of the NORHEART secretariat since 2013.
