Near-record participation at this year introductory course

29 students completed NORHEART’s Introductory Course to Cardiovascular Research and Medicine in Oslo 18–22 October. This is the second highest number of participants since the course started back in 2013.

The course provides an overview of common cardiac diseases. During the five-day course, the students heard lectures from more than 20 leading scientists. After the talks, the students had time to discuss with the lecturers. Before the final exam on Friday, the students also gave presentations of their own projects.

The yearly course highlights pathophysiology, clinical characteristics and therapeutic strategies. A special focus is given to all manifestations of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease, ranging from atherosclerosis to ischemic heart failure.

In 2020, the course was cancelled due to the covid-19 restrictions.
