23rd Annual Norwegian Symposium on Heart Research

On Thursday and Friday, September 11-12, we held the 23rd Annual Norwegian Symposium on Heart Research at Soria Moria Hotell, bringing together 120 passionate cardiovascular researchers.

We explored cutting-edge topics with inspiring lectures from Norwegian experts on novel therapeutic strategies, technologies and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, including a special session on exercise and arrhythmias.

Highlights of the symposium included invited international speakers:

– Professor Mike Murphy (MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, University of Cambridge) – on the role of mitochondria in ischaemia-reperfusion injury

– Professor Connie Bezzina (Amsterdam UMC) – on the value of polygenic risk scores for improved risk assessment

We were especially proud to host three exciting abstract sessions, where early-career researchers presented new research projects – with abstract prices awarded in each session.

Of course, our symposium would not be complete without the social side – reconnecting with old friends, expanding our network, and enjoying interesting conversations over coffee breaks and an excellent symposium dinner.

A heartfelt thank you to all speakers, participants, collaborators and NORHEART members who made this year’s symposium so memorable.

Last, but not least, we are extremely grateful to Nasjonalforeningen for folkehelsen for making this important meeting possible.
